Alexandre Joseph Paul Maurice Mercier is an entrepreneur and author born in Sept-Îles on Quebec’s Côte-Nord in 1991. After spending his youth in the region, he left his hometown to study at Université Laval in Quebec City. During the first semesters of his bachelor’s degree, he began working on the initial drafts of The Legend of the Kouro Stone. Still quite young at the time, he took a break from his writing projects to complete his undergraduate studies.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and a major in history, he entered the workforce. Passionate about military history and an avid fitness enthusiast, he decided to enlist as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. He spent three years in the regular force before transitioning to the reserves. Shortly thereafter, he began a career in finance. Wanting to expand his expertise in the business world, he decided to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration with a focus on business management. It was during this period that he resumed writing and published the first volume of his saga. His ambition led him to take part in several literary events, where he quickly became aware of the challenges and realities of the market. After analyzing various opportunities and enjoying the camaraderie of other authors, he decided to found his own publishing house in 2023. Thus, Black Forest Publishing was born.
As a young father, he recognized the importance of early reading for children when it comes to their development. He therefore created the Petits Dragons collection, which encourages preschool-aged children to read through fantasy-themed books. With an optimistic vision of publishing, he made his books accessible throughout North America and Western Europe, offering them in both French and English. As a literature enthusiast, he does not hesitate to explore the various possibilities within the profession. For him, the most important thing is that people of all ages and cultures enjoy reading.
